In Celtic mythology the great hero CuChulainn learned love and war from the warrior maiden Scathach. She was a Scottish heart-breaker, a martial arts instructor who taught the greatest Irish hero (and many others) how to fight. She would give them Friendship of the Thighs (ie teach those young lads all about sex) shortly before they finished training.
Love and war, the two things all my books here at Scathach Publishing promise to be about, but it's not just the themes of my novels that encapsulate Scathach's teaching, it's my whole grab-it-by-the-balls philosophy. As an Indie Publisher, I am passionate about my non-conformist status. In fact, it's more than just a passion. I'm not here because I couldn't get published anywhere else, I am here because this is exactly where I want to be. I love my Indiness. Scathach exists on the fringe, publishing the interesting things, the fantastic things, the edgy, passionate, gritty things that are just a little too unmarketable for mainstream publishers.
I bring Scathach's passion for war to my corner, fighting for your right to read things that aren't mass market. Welcome to Dun Scaith, the fortress of shadows. Welcome to the edge... |
